Pharmatech was in full attendance for this premier event, exhibiting amongst some of the most prominent companies in the world of nutraceuticals. Tradeshows are a great opportunity to learn from the industries finest, and we’re here to share the inside scoop of the latest trends seen at this year’s show!
Functional Snacks
Snack-aholics can rejoice in the news that there are now many brands offering good-for-you ingredients for all your snacking needs! Sweet, salty, savory – it’s all been covered in the newest innovations for casual grazing. One of our favorites was a granola bar with Lifenol, an ingredient that helps support post-menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and weight gain. Another was an energy shot in the form of chocolate peanut butter cups (think Reese’s meets 5 Hour Energy), and lastly a spicy snack mix with Turmeric, the active ingredient being Curcumin that produces anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
Unique Applications
SupplySide West isn’t just for the newest innovations in products and ingredients. There were many suppliers showcasing new ways to consume your supplements! We saw a gusseted bag with a Bottle Blender feature for consuming a pre-work out mix. Just add water to the indicated line and shake, all within the supplement bag itself! Stick packs are commonly added with water or other beverages for consumption, but we saw a children’s nutritional supplement meant to be taken straight from the pack just like Pixy Stix! There’s never been an easier way to get your kids their added nutrient support than from a stick that looks and tastes just like candy!
Ashwagandha Everything
An ingredient that has been around for thousands of years, yet newer to the nutritional supplement scene, is Ashwagandha. This cure-all ingredient has been on the rise in recent years because of the wide umbrella of health benefits it covers. It’s been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, boost fertility, and support cognitive functioning and memory. We saw it in all forms at this show: gummies, drink shots, stick packs, and more! This ancient medicinal herb is available in just about any way one can consume their daily supplements.
